Diffusion Frames are the basic building blocks of so many lighting sets, however here at Kingsize, we really try to specify you the best option for your specific shooting scenario.
If for example you are shooting indoors in tight confines, you do not want a scaff pole sized 6×6 frame to build and grip with high boys, so we generally suggest the lightweight Chimera Panel Frames. These work just as well outside, but you should plan to be out of the wind.
If you are in studio, and you need to go bigger than 6×6 and you want maximum precision and lock off then we offer the Matthews frames. These are either 1 inch diameter tube, or 1 inch square tube which slots together, and you can fly on a pair of c-stand’s up to 8x8ft or beefy babies / junior stands and regular grip heads for 12x12ft.
For 20x20ft, we offer a medium weight square tube kit for in studio (or light weight location) or the 2″ diameter scaff pole sized heaviest duty frame we have. This one, you can use on the beach, or in the wind (if you’re keen)

Another smaller scale diffusion option is the rigid gel frames which we offer in 3x3ft and 4x4ft. These are very convenient as they are already set up, and you just grip them into place. The downside is that they don’t fold down for travel.
Soon, we will have a demo kit of the Westcott Scrim Jim which we see filling a space between the Chimera Panel Frames and the Matthews Quick Corner Frames (1″ square).
