Booking and timing

How do I get started?
Check How It Works, then send us your plan or gear list.
New clients will need to complete a quick setup form.

 


What is a day rate?
Gear is charged per day, based on collection and return.

Collection can be at any time during the day.
Return is the next morning by 8am.

Late returns incur additional charges.

 


Do you offer half days?
Half days apply to studios only.
All equipment is charged at full day rates.

 


What are your opening hours?
8am – 6pm Monday to Friday
8am – 6pm Saturday
Sunday by appointment (studios open, gear room closed)

 


Booking confirmation and changes

When is my booking confirmed?
A booking is considered confirmed once we receive approval, a PO, or clear confirmation with agreed dates.

 


What happens if I cancel?
Confirmed bookings may incur a cancellation fee.
Short notice cancellations may be charged up to 50%.

 


Gear responsibility

What happens if gear is lost or damaged?
You are responsible for all equipment during the hire period.

Costs may include:

• repair
• replacement
• insurance excess

Insurance is included in our day rates, with an excess applying.

What should I check when collecting gear?

• check your list against packed gear
• confirm everything is present
• test if unsure

Once collected, responsibility sits with you.

 


What should I do when returning gear?

• ensure gear is clean
• ensure it is working
• pack safely

Missing or late items will be charged accordingly.

 


Studios

What are my responsibilities in the studio?

Studios must be returned in the condition they were found.

This includes:

• basic cleaning
• removing rubbish
• resetting furniture and equipment

We can assist with cleaning for a fee if required.

 


Setup and support

Can Kingsize set up lighting and equipment for us?

Yes.

We regularly prepare full setups in advance of shoots.

This is a separate, chargeable service and must be booked ahead of time.

 


Can I request setup on the day?

Sometimes, but not reliably.

Setup requires planning, time, and staff.

Last-minute requests may not be possible or may incur additional cost.

 


Do I need crew?

Not always.

A prepared setup can reduce or replace the need for assistants.

We can advise based on your shoot.

 


Delivery and logistics

Do you deliver?
Yes.

Options include:

• local courier (fast, higher cost)
• national freight (slower, variable reliability)
• direct delivery via van or assistant

We will advise the best option based on timing and budget.

 


Can you support large or complex productions?
Yes.

We can assist with:

• logistics
• crew
• sourcing
• technical support

I’ve never hired gear or a studio before. What should I do?

You’re welcome here.

We recommend:

• visiting the studio beforehand
• discussing your shoot in advance
• testing equipment if needed

We will help you get set up properly.
