- LEARN
Most people don’t need more theory.
They need to understand how things actually work.
Most learning happens on set. We bring that into the studio, using real equipment, real workflows, and the same production environment used every day in New Zealand.
Lighting, workflow, equipment, decision-making under pressure.
These are practical skills. They are best learned by doing.
We run focused, hands-on sessions built around your specific needs.
Who this is for
- photographers developing or refining their practice
- assistants stepping up into more responsibility
- educators and students wanting applied understanding
- commercial practitioners needing to solve specific problems
- artists exploring lighting and image construction
- businesses and teams building internal capability
How it works
Most learning happens in 2-hour sessions, one-on-one or in small groups.
We work directly with:
- your brief
- your references
- your current level
- real equipment and setups
Sessions are practical and specific.
You are not watching. You are working.
What we focus on
- lighting control and shaping
- understanding modifiers and light behaviour
- building repeatable setups
- solving real-world shooting problems
- working efficiently under time and budget constraints
Portfolio and direction
We also work on portfolio development and career direction.
This includes:
- reviewing and editing your existing work
- identifying gaps and opportunities
- building a coherent body of work
- aligning your portfolio to the market you want to enter
- defining next steps in your development
For many people, this is where the real shift happens.
This often runs alongside practical sessions, so direction and execution develop together.
