> STUDIOS
Kingsize has been operating since 1998, supporting stills, motion, and hybrid productions across New Zealand.
We are not just studio space.
We are a working production environment designed to make shoots run properly.
We work with producers, agencies, photographers, assistants, in-house teams, and direct clients.
Our role is simple.
Make shoots work.
Preparation and support
If you want to walk in and start shooting, we can have everything ready for you.
Lighting, rigging, and full working setups can be prepared in advance, so your shoot runs smoothly from the moment you arrive.
This is often the easiest and most efficient way to work, especially for content-focused shoots or smaller teams.
Setup and breakdown are handled by our team and charged as production time.
Just let us know ahead of time so we can prepare it properly.
What runs here
Kingsize supports a wide range of production:
- advertising campaigns
- fashion and lookbooks
- e-commerce and catalogue production
- product and still life
- casting and pre-production
- hybrid stills and motion shoots
- content creation for brands and agencies
- in-house teams running their own shoots
- tests and portfolio development
From single-person setups to full production crews.
The Spaces
We offer four studios, each designed for different scales and ways of working.
Studio 1
Large drive-in studio with 7m cyclorama, full facilities, and space for complex builds and multi-set shoots.
Studio 3
Medium flexible studio with kitchen and full blackout control. Ideal for still life, food, and general production.
Studio 4
Compact daylight studio. Clean, controlled, and efficient for fashion, portrait, and smaller shoots.
Garden Studio
Purpose-built outdoor daylight space with overhead diffusion capability.
Each space can be supported with full lighting, grip, and production infrastructure.
Equipment and Support
Kingsize operates one of the largest stills and small cine equipment inventories in New Zealand.
Everything is on-site and integrated with the studios.
This allows:
- fast additions and changes during a shoot
- reduced risk around missing gear
- support for both studio and location work
If something shifts, we can respond immediately.
Most shoots don’t need a custom gear list. We’ve already built the setups that work.
Studio + Lighting Packages
Most clients don’t want to build gear lists from scratch.
We offer simple, ready-to-shoot lighting packages with our studios.
These are designed as complete, working setups using industry-standard equipment.
Typical packages include:
- Profoto D2 lighting systems
- Broncolor pack and head systems (when required)
- Aputure constant lighting
- essential modifiers, stands, and grip
Packages are:
- fixed setups designed to work immediately
- flexible enough for most commercial and content work
- built around the gear used daily in the industry
If you need something specific, we can build a custom setup.
Full package details are listed on each studio page.
How shoots run here
Typical workflow:
- pre-production planning and gear allocation
- check and prep prior to shoot
- load-in and setup
- live adjustments during the shoot
- pack-down and returns
The environment is designed so problems can be solved quickly and practically.
Scale reality
New Zealand has a strong production ecosystem, but not infinite depth.
Kingsize is structured to bridge that.
We help you:
- consolidate equipment
- plan around availability
- avoid duplication issues
- move efficiently between studio and location
This is where most productions succeed or fail.
