Kobold at Cine Gear Expo 2010

In this video, Vincent Laforet visits the Kobold by Bron booth at this year’s Cine Gear Expo in L.A.

You can see the big Para umbrellas rigged in the background with the Kobold HMI bare bulb units. Also you’ll see them interfacing with the Source Four projection spots, and the legendary water resistance that they are renowned for is demonstrated.

Speaking of water resistance: we sent out three of our HMIs over the weekend for a stills shoot, during typical Auckland weather: thunderclouds and heavy rain one minute: clear skies the next. Being able to rig and leave the lights out in the rain… (and shoot in the rain) was a huge time saver.

We were also running bron flash units on other segments of the shoot, and having to keep packs and heads water proof was not fun by comparison.
