It’s nearly been a year since we first introduced the Vocas camera rigs to the rental market, and we are very proud to say that they have been overwhelmingly well received by crews.

Their distinctive hand stitched leather details, their component locking systems, the professional engineering, and the comprehensive system has made Vocas a very popular choice by rental clients, and for purchase.

We can supply for hire, several complete tripod, or shoulder rigs for cameras ranging from Canon 5d MK2, through to the new Panasonic Af100, Sony F3, Red One, or Arri Alexa.

To date, we have also sold to several private camera owners, complete rigs, along with components to various camera rental houses for use with the Af100, F3, and 5d.

What we wanted to do with this article was introduce you to the full Vocas product range, including some of the lesser known items.

VOCAS FOR RED ONE

Here is the Vocas shoulder rig solution for the Red One. From the back: you have the standard Vocas shoulder pad with 15mm rod compatibility, being bridged by the base plate which leads to 19mm rod connectors.

At the front, you have the Vocas handle bar set, which is 15 & 19mm compatible.

As above, the shoulder piece can hold a battery plate, or a counter weight set, or both together.

On board is the Mattebox MB-450 which can be operated as a clip on, swing away or on rods.

Pictured below, is the Vocas Mattebox MB-450 which is their top of the line model. Here is the feature list:

– For use with up to 5 filters (3 fully rotatable).
– Made to fit the new filter standard 5,65″X5,65″ or smaller.
– Fits on large diameter lenses (up to 144 mm.)
– Optional patented Tilt filter unit.
– Newly designed and patented flag fixation.
– Externally operated patented Eyebrows.
– Exchangeable matte system.
– Optional Swing away bracket for either 15mm lightweight rails, 19mm rails or 15mm studio rails.
– The MB-450 can also be used as Clip-on or on 15mm lightweight rails support and barsadapter.
– Weight of the mattebox with filterframes: 850 grams.

As you can see this is a comprehensive solution. Vocas make extremely high quality products. We have several MB-250 matteboxes in full time rental, and they look good as new. They offer unique features to their brand, such as: adjustable height bars adapter for adjusting the Mattebox height off the rods: this has been a god-send working with the 5d, 7d, and 1dm3.

Another unique feature is the internal eyebrows. They are INSIDE the mattebox, and they work on top of your external flags. You have to see them in person to understand just how much more stray light these internal eyebrows eliminate.

Here is a break apart diagram of the MB-450 showing all the filter stages:

And lastly, here is a hotshoe adapter which can be attached to the top or sides of your MB-450

Moving on to other Red One accessories, we come to the Balance plate 19mm BP19-1 as described by Vocas: This Balance plate allows the use of 19mm rails and precise calibration of the camera’s centre of gravity on your tri-pod.

Made from high strength aluminum alloy and stainless steel, this balance plate is very strong yet extremely light. This balance plate is adjustable both horizontally and vertically for optimal configuration with most broadcast level shoulder cameras equipped with dovetail type tripod plate.
Including 2pc 19mm rail, 400mm length.

There are specific plates for the Red One, and the Arri Alexa (pictured first)
