Yes…it’s finally here…after months of debate, and then nervous anticipation, our Vocas Rig has finally arrived. It can be built up as a shoulder rig, or configured for a tripod or Steadicam. Based on a standard 15mm rail system, you have an adjustable shoulder support, camera base plates for either high or low camera body options, manual follow focus, 4×4″ Mattebox with top and side brows, and adjustable handles.

We are making this kit selectively available for rental while we iron out the bugs, get a few more accessories, etc.

The rig has been here only for a couple of days, but we have had a stream of visitors coming to look at it, and everyone has been impressed by the quality, and design.

It’s utterly rock solid, and the precision engineering is evident. It feels comfortable on the shoulder, quick to adjust.

The kit also comes with a top handle and monitor bracket (which attaches to the rails, not the hot-shoe). There is also a cheese plate on the back of the shoulder for adding batteries, etc. Alternatively there are screw on weights.

It’s the little things one appreciates too. The Matte-Box has unique internal flags which can be adjusted for even more flare cutting power. There are two filter holders: one fixed, one rotating. The fixed can drop through for grads. There is also a very nice light trap on the back for sealing the gap between the filter holder and the lens. Finally there’s the leather, hand stitched padded handles….

Visit our Facebook page (and become a fan) and check out some more photos, and trials using a Wireless Follow Focus system, and a Steadicam with the rig (more on that in the next post)
