CANON MEDIUM FORMAT? HD?

Canon Looking at a Medium Format Company? « Canon Rumors

The latest post at Canonrumors.com suggests that Canon maybe looking to buy a medium format company, such as Mamiya, Pentax, etc.

Discussion so far about this post has queried the reasoning behind such an idea, given the small size of this market, and it’s slow decline.

However this only applies to the stills market. Consider that RED Cameras has pre announced a 645 chip still / motion camera body (as well as a 6×19″ !) and that it’s popularity will probably be extreme. Canon is doing so well with it’s 5d Mk2 for motion capture… Imagine a Canon 645 motion capture device… could this be the angle?
