However, it’s important to note that the infrared (IR) AF assist beam on the 430EX III-RT is not compatible with mirrorless cameras like the EOS R5 Mark II. Instead, the flash will use an intermittent flash firing method to assist with autofocus in low-light conditions. Depending on the ambient lighting, the camera body may also emit an LED AF assist beam. Ensure that the AF assist beam is enabled on both the flash and the camera, and set the camera’s focus mode to One Shot AF for proper functionality.
Additionally, be aware that flash photography is not compatible with the fully electronic shutter; the flash will not fire in this mode. To use flash, switch to the mechanical or electronic first-curtain shutter.
