FAQ – New Clients

Welcome to Kingsize.

1.   How do I get started?

Please check How it works, and follow the steps. You need to fill out 2 forms, the New Client Form, and the Credit Card Authorisation form.

2.   What is a day rate, and how does it work?

Equipment is hired based on collection at the beginning of the day, and returning the next morning. If you collect at 12pm or 3pm or 6pm, the gear is still expected back the next morning by 8am, and this is still a 1 day charge.

3.   Do you do half days?

Yes for studios. No for gear.

A studio half day is from 8am-1pm / or / 1pm-6pm

4.   What if I break the gear, or it gets stolen?

Please see our Terms & Conditions, and Insurance Quick Guide. You are responsible for the return of the equipment in the same condition it left Kingsize. Any loss or damage will incur charges that you must pay.

5.   I’ve never hired a studio or equipment before. What do I do?

First of all, we welcome everyone: and we love helping people get started. Where ever we can we will talk you through the process, or equipment usage, and assist you in having a successful shoot.

We recommend you come visit us well before your shoot, and familiarise yourself with the facilities, or equipment, and general procedures.

6.   I am a student, can I get a discount?

7.   I am a charity, can I get a discount?

8.   I am shooting a short film, music video, or personal project, can I get a discount?

Yes you can: check our Specials page !

9. How do studio day rentals work?

A standard day is 10 hours. That is the industry standard. Our normal hours are 8am -6pm for a standard studio day. This means from the time you pack in, to packing out and closing the door. Overtime and available but must be arranged. Overtime rates apply. Our after hours cleaning crew are booked as soon as you leave, so we need to reschedule for overtime.

A studio half day is from 8am-1pm / or / 1pm-6pm*

10. Covid-19

Please report to the office and register for contact tracing. We ask you to manage your own crew contact tracing. We have installed hand sanitizer stations in each studio. Please follow all general health guidelines and physical distancing protocols as required.

We adhere to the guidelines as set out by ScreenSafe // WorkSafe for production.
